Vaccinations

Dog 4 Way Vaccination

The dog 4 way is the standard dog vaccination usually abbreviated DA2PP. This vaccine is an aid to the prevention of 4 of the most common dog diseases and all dogs should receive this vaccination.

In case you are interested the D is for distemper, which is similar to human measles. Distemper can attack the brain, eyes, skin, digestive and upper respiratory system. The A2 is for Adenovirus Type 2 which causes liver problems and a type of kennel cough. The first P is for Parvovirus which attacks the digestive system. The second P is for Parainfluenza which causes flu like symptoms.

Dog Vaccination Package

The package includes the 3 vaccinations most requested for Dogs. The Dog 4 Way (DA2PP) and Kennel Cough.

Kennel Cough

Kennel Cough causes a hacking cough similar to a cold that may persist for two to four months.

Rabies

The first time your pet is vaccinated, the rabies vaccination is valid for one year. Subsequent vaccinations are valid for either one or three years.

Rabies is a fatal disease which can also infect humans.

Tests

Fecal Test

The fecal test examines your pet's elimination for signs of parasites. A technician dissolves the sample in a salt solution, centrifuges the sample and examines the material under a microscope. If your pet suffers from parasites, evidence should be visible in the sample.

Heartworm Test

This is a test for Heartworms. Heartworms are transmitted by mosquito and are worms that literally live in the heart. Heartworms can cause permanent damage to the heart or death.

Revolution

Revolution is an aid to the prevention of heartworms, fleas and other harmful parasites. You may purchase up to 6 doses at the time of your surgery. We will administer the first dose purchased.

Ivomec

Ivomec is commonly used in cattle to control parasites. Many animal shelters, rescues, breeders and private individuals use it to control parasites in cats and dogs. Ivomec has been used this way for more than 20 years with few problems. (No drug is problem free.) It is not suitable for certain animals and we will not provide it in these cases.

Unquestionably Revolution is the preferred choice however Ivomec is better than no protection so we offer it as a humane option for those pets suffering or potentially suffering from parasites.
